Gigafactory

As its name indicates “giga” refers to the size, so that the definition of this term is “makes giant”.

The Gigafábricas are factory with large production capacity.

The term was popularized in 2014 with the construction of the first Gigafábrica in the state of Nevada, north America.

As of today, there are six Gigafábricas around the world, in Nevada, New York, Texas, California, China and Germany, in the last days during the Investor day, the Executive Director of Tesla, Elon Musk announced the construction of a Gigafactory / Gigafábrica in Nuevo León, Mexico.

This will make Mexico the country with the highest manufacturing of electric cars in Latin America

The construction of this factory will be the biggest so far and the investment is approximately 5,000 million dollars.

With this new plant for the production of new generation vehicles, Tesla will have six large factories spread across different territories of the world.

The industrial activities often lead to environmental problems such as pollution, destruction of ecosystems, climate change and others, this is the reason why large companies around the world put more and more attention in the various alternatives that exist for return of your business, a sustainable alternative.

The Gigafábricas are factories self-sufficient – sustainable, they are designed to reduce the environmental impact by producing its own energy from different sources:

• Solar Energy
• Wind energy
• Geothermal energy

Tesla has created sustainable initiatives that have already launched in the gigafábricas. Each of them aims to promote the use of solar energy, water reuse and the reduction of energy.

The production of these factories is primarily aimed at:

• Production of vehicles
• Solar panels
• Electrical components
• Lithium batteries

The construction of this type of projects is to contribute voluntarily to the environmental improvement and, therefore, improve their competitiveness in a company.
